TS Day 3: Wednesday 10/20/2021

Goal: Creekside Campground Eidenburg, VA.

Today is a 4 state day. Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, ending in Virginia. The plan is to travel 265 miles, with the drive being anticipated at 7 hours.

Tigger spent the first hour voicing her displeasure at missing her first nap, until Nettle told Tigger to stop whining. Both cats then settled down.

The original plan had been to take two lanes south. However, on the advice of the service writer, Chris at Gray CDR, we climbed up onto I80 west and took it out to I81 south.

Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia all had road work going on in places. The traffic was steady but the roadwork did not slow the flow significantly.

We stopped for brunch at a Waffle House, having elected to not make breakfast before breaking camp.

Next stop was for diesel at a Sheets 1574 Martinsburg Pike, Winchester, VA drove 257 mi @ an average of 10.7 mpg. $85.35 for 24.73 gallons.

Another lovely fall day, through the country side, with the final part of the day on 2 lanes.

We arrived Creek Side Campground by 3:30 pm and are met by the owners. They are very helpful and a nice older couple. They live in a class A motor home on the property. We were shown to our camp site and assisted in backing in The Wols Roost into the parking spot.

Set up went very quickly and smoothly for us.

The neighbors in the small weekender travel trailer were also very nice. They had arrived about half an hour before us. They are even newer to RVing than we are, so we gave the husband a few pointers as he was setting up.

We had time to pour our Quarantinies, and sit outside. Nettle was fascinated by the smells coming into the trailer from the open screen door. So, Deryl put Nettle’s harness back on and they went for a walk. Nettle is getting used to walking most places she wants to go with Mom at the end of the leash. Deryl only says “No” to going under things, like picnic tables or RVs.

Miles driven 292 miles today with an average of 10.2 mpg, and an average of 45 miles per hour driving speed. Total truck Mileage 107445 to date.

Rob made chicken Marsala for dinner. The Creek Side Campground, is small and the sites are small. Luckily the camp is quiet, and we are lulled to sleep to the distant rumble of trucks on the highway.
