Goal: Run errands and visit with the Dunkleys.
Today’s top priority is to pick up the new “Active Air Box” assembly from the Raleigh Chrysler Jeep dealership. Next up, groceries, and see if we can find a replacement auto style glass fuse for the microwave. All this before Debbie and Chris Dunkley arrive at 6 for cocktails before going out to listen to a friend sing with one of the other local bands.
After a peaceful night of sleep with the only noise being the occasional airplane crossing overhead. Our campsite is beautifully tucked into the woods with distance between each campsite.
We are out running the errands by 10:30 AM. First is to drive down to Raleigh Chrysler Jeep dealership, which is 30 minutes away from the campground. We arrive and proceed to the parts department, they have our part and we are back on the road in 10 minutes! Yea first item off the list.
While heading out of the campground, Rob asks a ranger where we purchase firewood. The answer is that the campground gate has wood for sale, or we could pick some up anywhere, including the local grocery stores.
Next task is to try and find a replacement fuse for the microwave. The fuse Rob removed from the microwave is a 125Volt, 20Amp glass fuse. We try the first auto parts place we drive past. What we find there are 32V fuses. Even with asking the sales person, who drops our single burned out fuse, all he knows is that yes the package we have has a 20Amp fuse in it. So we spend the $5.00 with the hope that this might work, but little expectation that the fuse will work.
Next we go to a Harris Teeter grocery store near the campground and pick up supplies for tonight’s cocktails (including frozen shrimp), a bag of ice to keep the frozen shrimp cold, a bouquet of burgundy colored lilly flowers, and breakfasts for us. Harris Teeter also has bundles of firewood for sale, so we pick up 2 bundles.
Back at camp we set up the patio furniture, arrange the flowers in our acrylic flower vase, and give the cats their dinner. Rob boils and chills the shrimp, while Deryl makes the cocktail mix to accompany the shrimp.
Setting up the patio involves unpacking the “burrito”. The Burrito is what we call the rack mounted to the bumper hitch of the trailer. The rack has a heavy duty plastic bag with straps to hold and protect items stored on the rack. We have loaded the Burrito with our patio furnishings including: 2 plastic patio mats, folding chairs, the gas grill, a extension ladder, and a large gray flip top crate of kindling.
Debbie and Chris arrive and we socialize by the fire over our cocktails and shrimp cocktail. Around 7:00 PM we climb into the Dunkley’s car and head off to a local Wild Wings Cafe for dinner and to listen to their friend’s band and singer.
Nice performance, good food, great conversation! A lovely time is had!
We arrive home around 1:00 AM! YEA!
