Goal: Memphis, Tennessee
Since we did not take much out last night, getting on the road this morning was expedient and uneventful.
Deryl spent the first hour of the drive on a conference call with Barron Chiropractic. Deryl is training the staff in advanced accounts receivable processing. Luckily with today’s cellular service, and virtual private networking tools and video conference tools, it is easy to work with someone remotely.
The rest of the drive was pleasant, though not very interesting as it was just on Interstate 20 to Birmingham and then I22 to Memphis.
We selected the Elvis Presley Boulevard RV Park, for its location and price. It is just south of Graceland in Memphis. The area is surprisingly commercial. We had an expectation that Graceland would be in a residential area, but it appears that Elvis Presley Boulevard has become just a strip of small businesses and fast food joints.
The park is clean, but all the spots are small and tight. Each spot is terraced blacktop, each just wide enough for a trailer without slides. As a result, at the Park now rents out every other space (providing one space for RV parking and one for a picnic table). Hence our “space” was two spaces. This was nice as it allowed us to extend our slides, have a place to park the truck, and a picnic table. In addition, the staff are very nice, and helpful.
Our site does require us to add some blocking under the rear wheels of the trailer to make getting the trailer off of the truck, and then leveling easier. Luckily, thanks to our Duck Puddle experience, we now have plenty of leveling blocks and 2×10 pieces of wood, to quickly facilitate the leveling of the trailer. The hookups are all at the back of the site, which means we need long hoses/cables to hookup. Small drat, we need a longer drinking water hose than we have. Off to Walmart we go!
Walmart is a short drive down Elvis Presley Boulevard, pick up water hose and back to camp. We are then all hooked up.
We decide to laze about the camper this afternoon, work on the website, read the news, and do a little more trip planning.
Tomorrow, Beal St, BBQ, Booze & Blues!
