Goal: Groceries
Today we decide that we will relax, sleep in, and do a little grocery shopping before we go to the Metal Museum of Memphis.
First stop Walmart. We need to get more DEF fluid for Clyde before we head out. Walmart has the lowest prices on DEF, so while it is annoying to have to use the 2.5 gallon jugs. The price performance is good.
We spend some time driving around the area looking at laundromats. Deryl is hopeful that one of the laundromats will be clean, in good maintenance, AND take credit/debit cards not just coins. While we have a stock of quarters, Deryl would prefer not to have to use quarters. As a result we drive around the area, stopping, Deryl hopping out, then checking what the laundromat looks like. She clambers in with the report, “No not that one.” Rinse and Repeat. Eventually Deryl decides that one laundromat is at least tolerable, so we make note for doing laundry tomorrow.
Groceries:
Next we head over to Kroger to buy more frozen shrimp (one of our staple proteins), and hopefully a few fresh veggies. Many of the shelves at the Kroger look like Tennessee was in a state of emergency, that or locusts had been through the store. Either way, it was amazing how many bare shelves there were. The meat section was more empty than had product. What veggies were in the store, looked like they had been shipped by mule. We pick up the frozen shrimp and count ourselves lucky.
Deryl suggests that we pick up some fried chicken. The chicken will serve us for dinner tonight and as lunches while we are on the road. Therefore we stop at a Poppies, and pick up a 12 pack dinner.
We return to The Roost. Dine on our fried chicken, and work on the website. Another day, and off to bed we go.
