TW Day 23: Thursday 11/25/2021

Thanksgiving!

Boy do we have a lot to be thankful for!

We started our day out sleeping in, and then having Mimosas with our breakfast.

While the 5 lb turkey was thawing in warm water, Rob and Deryl headed across the street to the spa in our swim suits. The Riverbed hot spring spa is WONDERFUL!

They have a number of communal and private hot tubs. All natural spring fed. The tubs are terraced along the bank of the Rio Grande and all face the river, and the trees which line the opposite bank. The spa plays peaceful, relaxing music, and guests are encouraged to speak quietly. The whole place is beautifully landscaped and conducive to relaxation.

We spent an hour in the communal pools, before we moved over to one of the private tubs we had reserved for our 50 minute soak. Ahhhh….

One of the private pools

By the time we walked back to the trailer we were both totally relaxed. Any memory of stress had melted away.

We called Deryl’s Mom and Daughter on the east coast just prior to putting the tiny turkey into the oven. Rob prepared an onion for slow cooking in the oven. Deryl also added a potato and a sweet potato to the oven to let them cook slowly.

A few cooking skills, and time, combined to make a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Who said that living in an RV meant you could not have fine dining.

After we had digested our meals, we returned to the communal pools for another hour around 8:30 PM.

The spa illuminates the trees across the river with tiny green twinkle lights. The view becomes one where the stars blend all the way down into the river.

After an hour of soaking we returned for a very restful sleep.
